Icing nail polish : Fake Baked

Hey y’all ! So a few weeks ago decided to go to the mall, and of course, while there I picked up a few polishes lol. The best part is, I got them for super duper cheap! Who doesn’t love a good sale ?

20140308-234642.jpg
Fake Baked is a very dense copper glitter in a dark brown base. It the bottle this polish is stunning but actually on my nails ….. the jury is still out. I will say the the glitter coverage is really good though. All pictures show me wearing two coats of Fake Baked.

20140308-235032.jpg
As I mentioned, the coverage was really nice. However I did find it a little goopy and somewhat tricky to work with. I guess I can’t complain too much it was only $1.99
If you are interested in owning Fake Baked check out you local Icing location. If not I’m sure it’s easily found on eBay or Amazon.

Zoya : Layla

Hey y’all ! Today I have a really fun spring color to show ya. If we can’t have spring weather at least we can have it on our nails right? Zoya is not typically known for their neons but they did a really good job with Layla.

20140308-182039.jpg
Layla is a fun, bright, neon pink. Kinda reminds me of Barbie. I also was thinking that Layla would make the perfect base color for all types of fun nail art too !

20140308-182527.jpgHowever since I’m not so good at nail art I thought a foiled accent nail might do the trick. For some reason in this photo Layla’s looking alittle orangey, perhaps is had something to do with the fact I took the photo at sunset. The top photo is much truer to color.
The formula was nice and so was the coverage. Layla does have a satin finish that you can see in the top photo. Layla cost $9 and is available on Zoya.com

Color Club : Port-folio

Hey y’all ! It’s time again for one of my favorite affordable and easily accessible brands …. Color Club!

20140310-172909.jpg
Port-folio is a duochrome that shifts from purple to a shimmery green. So stunning in person!!!
There are a few other polish company that do a very similar color to this, OPI has Significant other Color and Zoya has Adina. I do own both of those polishes and I can tell you Port-folio is the darkest and most “shifty “of the bunch.

20140310-173342.jpg I really enjoyed the formula the coverage was pretty good. All photos show me wearing two coats of Port-folio.
Port-folio is available on ShopColorClub. com and cost $8

Super Black Lacquers : Framboise

Hey y’all ! So today’s the day, the last of the polishes from Super Black Lacquers 2014 spring collection … Boo 😦
It is a stunner tho, and another one of my absolute faves from the collection, so that should cheers us up right?!

Before I get into the polish, I would like to thank Natalie from SBL once again for sending me this stellar collection. I hope all you have enjoyed it as much as I have 🙂

20140318-111721.jpg Framboise is described as ;a saturated raspberry jelly polish, with a ton of glitters: tiny black, matte pink, holographic lilac, and chunky matte white hex. So in my opinion, pretty much a one step jelly sandwich!

20140318-112128.jpg The formula was very nice and the glitter was abundant so there is no need to “fish” for glitter.
As mentioned before, is it more of a jelly base, however I found the coverage just right. Sheer enough to see the glitter underneath, but opaque enough to give you full coverage after two coats.
All the photos show me wearing two coats of Framboise and a topcoat to smooth it out.

20140318-112944.jpgIn the macro shot above you can really see the beautiful glitter combination.

20140318-114705.jpg
Lastly I used a matte top coat to show a different side to Framboise, which I really loved by the way!
Framboise cost $12 and is available now on Super Black Lacquers.com along with the rest of the spring line. So be sure and head over there to check them out, and while you there please take a peek at all their other lovely polishes aswell!

As alway thank you so much for reading ❤

Super Black Lacquers : The Stag

Super Black Lacquers has really outdone themselves with The Stag from their 2014 Spring collection. If this color does not scream Spring to you, I don’t know what will!
As I mentioned before, Super Black Lacquers is 4-free and is handmade, which makes this polish that much more great!

20140317-134033.jpg The Stag is a glow-y, bright, metallic green, with a beautiful added shimmer.

20140317-134428.jpg The finish is nice and shiny. Coverage was a little bit on the sheer side so I am wearing three coats of The Stag in all photos without a topcoat.
The Stag costs $10 and is available now, along with the rest of the 2014 spring collection at Super Black Lacquers.com

So please go and check out the spring line and all her other fabulous polishes! Thank you so much for supporting indies !

Hey y’all! So the next polish in the 2014 spring collection from Super Black Lacquers is a real stand out! So unique and mysterious I absolutely fell in love with this one and may be my favorite 🙂

20140316-132537.jpgThe Haymaker is a beautiful deep eggplant purple creme, packed with different sized neon orangey-red glitter. See what I mean? So unique ! I absolutely fell in love with the color combination and it’s a real eye-catcher 🙂

20140316-133028.jpg

20140316-133039.jpg The formula was something else that I really enjoyed. The coverage was fantastic. I think I could’ve gotten away with one coat, perhaps if I would’ve gone on a little thicker.
However for all the photos, I am wearing two coats of The Haymaker and a nice thick top coat to smooth everything out.

The Haymaker cost $12 and is available now on Super Black Lacquers. com along with the rest of the spring collection. So please a doll and head over there and check it out! Tell em’ I sent ya 🙂

20140315-183351.jpg

20140315-183400.jpg The formula and coverage were nice. I really appreciate the thin brush that Super Black Lacquers uses, I feel like I have more control over application. All pictures show me wearing two coats of The Grackle.

Super Black Lacquers : Majestic

Hey everyone ( happy dance time) Super Black Lacquers has come out with their spring 2014 collection, and I had pleasure of receiving them to share with you guys!
I had planned on doing all the polishes in one post, however the weather around here got ugly and I was only able to snap one of the polishes in natural lighting, so I will be doing them individually. Which I think is a good thing since I’ll have time to focus on each polish more 🙂

20140315-115526.jpg First up is Majestic.
Majestic is a beautiful radiant orchid creme. (Which by the way is Pantone’s color of the year) so this polish is right on trend.

20140315-120025.jpg The formula was fabulous and so was the coverage, but what really impressed me was the finish, so shiny ! The photo shows me wearing two coats of Majestic. Without a top coat!
Majestic is available now @ Super Black Lacquers.com and cost $10

Remember, Stay tuned for the rest of the Super Black spring collection! I can’t wait for you guys to see the beauties coming up 🙂

And as always, thanks for reading ❤

Glitter placement tutorial

So I haven’t done a tutorial in quite some time now so I figured it was about time ! If you’ve reading my blog lately you know that I’ve been showing a lot of glitter placement with my swatches. Glitter placement it’s a really fun and easy way to jazz-up any manicure while at the same time adding glitter to your nails, and come on who doesn’t love glitter ?!
So there’s a couple ways to do it, you can use dry loose glitter and place it on your nails into wet polish. I’m not really a fan of this option just because you have to keep reapplying topcoat, to keep your polish tacky so the glitter actually sticks to it….That can get messy .
I prefer fishing out glitter from a pre-existing glitter polish and placing it on the nails. The polishes clear base acts as an adhesive. Therefore you don’t have to keep reapplying topcoat 🙂

A really good option is OPI’s I Snow You Love Me . I am very fond of this polish I even have a back-up bottle! The glitter is the perfect size and super easy to work with.

20140304-184135.jpg All you have to do is dab some of the polish into the center of a nail wheel, next pick up the glitter with a dotting tool or if you don’t have one a tooth pick works too, and place the glitter on your nails! It can be done on your bare nail or over polish.

20140304-185034.jpg The only thing left to do is let your imagination run wild! You can use this technique as an accent nail or do a whole manicure covered in placed glitter. Remember always use a high-quality, thick-ish topcoat to finish off your look!
